  • Waarom is participatie bij waarderen belangrijk?

    Waarderen is een proces dat in veel gevallen de kern vormt van de besluitvorming rond erfgoed. Het gaat in essentie om vragen als: wat is erfgoed, hoe waardevol is het en hoe wordt dat erfgoed bewaard, behouden, gepresenteerd en gebruikt? Bij participatief waarderen komen de antwoorden op deze vraag voort uit een dialoog tussen beroepsmatige specialisten en mensen met een interesse voor het erfgoed.

    Participatief waarderen of co-waarderen is een project of continu proces waarin niet-beroepsmatig betrokkenen en erfgoedinstellingen/overheden sámen een onderbouwde visie geven op de betekenissen en/of erfgoedwaarde van een object, verzameling, gebouw, plek, etc., waarin diverse waardestelsels tot hun recht kunnen komen. Participatief waarderen maakt deel uit van besluitvormingsprocessen over bescherming, beheer, duiding, presentatie, ontwikkeling, transformatie, etc. van erfgoed.
